Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg
Esch-sur-Alzette
From steel town to campus town, twenty minutes south of the capital
Esch-sur-Alzette spent a century as the engine room of Luxembourg's steel industry. Today its old blast-furnace site at Belval carries the University of Luxembourg, a growing cluster of research institutes and startups, and a skyline of converted industrial architecture unlike anywhere else in the Grand Duchy — twenty minutes south of Luxembourg City by chauffeured car.
The Belval campus
A university built inside a former steel plant
Belval's blast furnaces still stand — floodlit at night, walkways threaded between them — right alongside the University of Luxembourg's lecture halls, the National Archives and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology. It's an unusual, striking piece of urban planning, and a regular stop for our chauffeurs ferrying visiting academics, conference delegates and researchers between the campus and their hotels in the capital.
Research & innovation
A second business identity, growing fast
Alongside the university, Belval's Cité des Sciences has drawn a steady cluster of research institutes, incubators and technology startups looking for space the capital no longer has. It's a quieter, more deliberate kind of business travel than Kirchberg's banking towers — but it runs on the same need for a punctual, unhurried chauffeur who knows exactly where each building entrance is.
Getting here
Twenty minutes from Findel
Esch-sur-Alzette has no airport of its own — the nearest is Luxembourg Findel (LUX), about twenty minutes north near the capital. We track your inbound flight the same way we do for any Luxembourg City pickup, then drive you straight south to Belval or the town centre in one fixed-price trip, no transfer or second booking required.

France's Lorraine region, a short drive away
Esch-sur-Alzette sits close enough to the French border that a trip into Lorraine — Thionville, Longwy or onward to Metz — is a routine booking rather than a special request. Many of our Belval clients live or work across that border, and our chauffeurs cross it as often as they cross a Luxembourg city limit.
